I hope so. if not then I shall gladly assume he's back in gaol or dead. I doubt either will happen any time soon.

Thanks Pierre, this has a bit a morib ring, but it is a very good watch dog initiative. I wish citizens would engage more in this kind of monitoring. This issue points to the larger problem of the ANC liberation movement coming to terms with a liberal democracy. Clearly, it struggles. The Shaik release, amongst many others, makes it clear that we are a two-class citizen democracy: those who are former liberation fighters and who are entitled to special protection and exemptions and the others. In the long run, it is this division that undermines our democracy.

Spuy, I really, really do not wish Mr Shaik to die and hope he has a long life (which he will no doubt have). I do know that he was unlawfully released from prison and wish him back in prison where he belongs.

Prof, the ONLY justice on his release would be him DEAD hey, Professor?..nice one Prof -so much for the Value of Life!...I mean, why would we need a periodic reminder that a human being is "still alive"?...Of course we want people alive, thats what humanity, Ubuntu, is all about. De Vos is taking Shaik s release to the extreme now, almost wishing him dead soon - and datz scary!

It must be just... killing.... him that he can't party up a storm in Durbs anymore for fear that Paddy Harper at the Sunday Times will spot him at his old haunts around town like Spigodoros. He must be getting a lot of take-out.

Living in a country where officials are trying to as corrupt as thos in Nigeria tends to make one cynical.
Herman, at what point do you believe they'll realise he's not sick enough and should go back to gaol? He is, at any rate, closer to death now than he was when he left and nobody knows when you'll leave this earth but your maker (and maybe your murderer) so he doctors et al could made an error...
