i agree with the cautious opinion of pierre that "if he is elected he will not necessarily change US foreign policy that dramatically and that he will still act in the interest of the US and not the rest of us" But this dude is still better than the rest. I am also of the view that what hillary is doing now is more divisive of the Dems than it is not. She shouldn't manifest the difference in electoratal behaviour (i.e w. virginia, and kentucky versus oregon etc) if she truly wishes the Dems to will the white house (soon to be black house hopefully!). This makes me think her true with is for her, and not necessarily Dem or Reps to win the house. She should relinquish her decisive class and race predicated persuasion for some unifying theme. Peace.

Pierre,

Do I see people of all races coming to listen to this Obama guy, or am I losing my sight? Talk about a MULTITUDE! When shall we see a leader in South Africa able to draw this kind of support from across the racial and cultural spectrum? Imagine Zille pulling out this kind of crowd in Khayelitsha or Zuma in Tygervalley/ Stellenbosch? I do not think Madiba will live to see that happen. But Khosi and I just might.

A very exiting chapter in US politics and history indeed. I also hope for Obama, but whether he will be able to uproot John McCain will depend on the mood of the people at ground-root level. Hopefully Al Qaida doesn't do anything stupid in the forseeable future because that might swing the mood the Republican way

I am very excited about Obama. I loved the way he aggressively rebuffed the attempts this week to paint him as an appeaser and weak on foreign policy re Iran, Cuba.

Instead of doing the Hilary "I will flatten Iran" thing, he did the risky, "they are selling you a lie thing". And it worked. The American public liked it. What a fresh breeze.
